Who We Are

Mission: To promote an understanding and awareness of our historic waterways, its maritime heritage, and to encourage greater utilization of this magnificent asset.

Founded in 2010, we support companion maritime events, activities, and projects that will enrich the waterfront through providing greater uses and connectivity between the city and harbor. Our signature event that showcases life and activity in 16th Century St. Augustine is the construction, operation, and homeporting of a replica 16th-century Spanish vessel from the city’s founding period. The replica Spanish Colonial work boat aka a “Chalupa” was volunteer built, and launched and christened March 2015 the “San Agustín”.

What We Do

The St. Augustine Maritime Heritage Foundation aims to preserve the maritime history of St. Augustine, Florida, through educational programs, public events, and traditional boatbuilding.
