Fostering Connections is seeking enthusiastic, dedicated board members to serve on our Board of Directors

Fostering Connections Board Members are skilled volunteers dedicated to supporting our mission and programs. Board members provide governance, financial oversight, fundraising, and resource development.

We are currently seeking board members with the following skill sets:

- Event Planning

- Development (Event and individual fundraising)

- Board Governance

-Public Policy - State Government Level

We are currently seeking board members to represent our wide regional reach, including board members from: 

- Duval county

- Putnam county

- Volusia county

Board member terms are three years.

Board Member Requirements:

- At least 21 years old

- Reside or work in Flagler, Putnam, Duval, St. Johns, or Volusia counties

- Have a passion for helping children impacted by foster care, adoption, or trauma and their families

- Pass a background screening

- Previous experience serving on a nonprofit board of directors (recommended)

Volunteer: Career Readiness Academy Program Volunteers

Fostering Connections is seeking business professionals that enjoy mentoring and working with foster and at-risk youth to serve as Career Readiness Academy program volunteers. Volunteers assist students as they work through the program activities and provide support with facilitating activities. A curriculum and supplies are provided for all volunteers. Volunteer Roles:  Course Guide (9 hours): -Work one on one with a Career Readiness Academy student, assisting them with assignments and activities during the courses. -Help provide a safe, fun learning environment for students.  -Course guides should attend each of the three sessions in April 2025, which are held on Saturdays from 9-12.

 

Activity Facilitator (1 hour):  -Facilitate mock job interviews with students. -Other activities as assigned by the program facilitator. -Activity facilitators attend the day of the scheduled activity. Opportunities are in Duval between June 2 - June 6, St. Johns between June 16 - June 20, Putnam between June 23 - June 27 and Volusia between July 7 - July 11. 

 

Volunteer Position Requirements:  -Be a business professional, manager, or small business owner. -Have experience mentoring at-risk youth. -Pass a background screening.

Fostering Connections is in need of business professionals and community members to serve as volunteer job coaches for Career Readiness Academy student interns. Job Coaches will mentor, give feedback, and provide guidance to student interns during their internship experience. Volunteer Job Coach Roles -Visit students at their internship site twice a month for 30 minutes. -Communicate with on-site internship mentor to help evaluate the student's progress. -Complete a one page Career Readiness skills evaluation once a month. -Provide mentoring, feedback, and coaching to the student during visit. -Meet with the CEO once a month to share student's progress. This volunteer role is two hours per month for the duration of the student's internship. Training will be provided. This volunteer role will begin in June 2025. Volunteer Job Coach Requirements -At least 30 years old. -Pass a background check. -Able to fulfill the two hour a month time commitment. -Experience mentoring youth preferred.

Fostering Connections is seeking individuals with experience working with foster youth or at-risk children to be Activity Facilitators at our monthly Foster/Adoptive Family Meet Ups. Volunteers will facilitate creative activities and games to encourage engagement and fellowship for foster families. Volunteer Roles:  -Facilitate activities and games for children and their foster families from ages birth through 10 years old. -Help provide a safe, fun learning environment for students. -Communicate needs and concerns to the program administrator.
