Who We Are

Mission: To empower the communities of Spuds, Elkton, and Armstrong by providing essential resources, support, and hope to overcome the challenges of substandard housing, homelessness, and hunger.

SEA Community Help Resource Center, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to supporting the residents of Spuds, Elkton, and Armstrong, rural communities in Southwestern St. Johns County, Florida. Rooted in a tradition of mutual aid and strong community ties, SEA has been serving its neighbors for over 25 years. From our small trailer in Armstrong, we provide meals, resources, and programs designed to uplift and empower our community.

SEA fosters a spirit of care, connection, and resilience, ensuring that every resident has access to the support they need. “You name it, we do it!”

What We Do

We provide food, clothing, books and various other assistance to the people residing in the outlying communities of SEA (Spuds, Elkton and Armstrong) and other communities.  We assist with applications for programs, such as SNAP, Northeast Florida Community Action Agency programs, FEMA, Christmas Stocking, and others as needed. SEA provides hot meals and groceries, and Thanksgiving and Christmas meals and toys for up to 300 children monthly, and more than 5,000 residents annually.

SEA’s annual bookbag and school supplies program serves 300 or more children each July, while providing school physicals and community medical services and medication to area residents.  SEA is the designated area representative and receiving point for donations to Haiti, and also receives donations for the Bahamas.

SEA is recognized throughout St Johns County and the Eastern US from Maine to Key West as a pilot organization and model for other Small Businesses on the East Coast Greenway, the St Johns River-to-Sea Loop, Blueways and Trails, and Rails to Trails, and is Florida’s furthers designation for the Gullah Geechee Cultural Heritage Corridor.
