ABOUT US  

The Veteran Garden Project (VGP) is located in St Augustine, Florida in St. Johns County.   We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization which uses trauma-informed gardening, mind/body, and permaculture programming to support and empower veterans, military members, their families, and volunteers. This work is expressed through our mission to support our healing veteran community while also encouraging and supporting stewardship of our precious resources. Our mission facilitates holistic healing, confidence, recovery, and inspired hope for veterans and their families. 

We support our healing and returning veterans and families in St. Augustine by building community support, camaraderie. We hold free meet up gatherings and educational workshops pertaining to organic gardening and permaculture principles. Through an application process to qualified veterans, both active duty and retired, we afford scholarships for this garden project. We have supported over 300 local veterans and volunteers, planning, designing, installing, and sharing education and community. Since 2018 we have installed 12 local organic veteran gardens, 2 plant swap stands, and much more. 

We are fundraising to continue our mission and to purchase at least one acre of property in St. Johns County to grow and construct a learning center by December 2022. This property will become VGP’s permanent administrative and programmatic hub and will enable us to expand our service scope and impact by 200% in terms of veterans/families served each year, new initiatives. You can help us reach our goals by playing, sponsoring, volunteering, or donating today!
