Prevention Coalition of St. Johns County

Mission: To nurture, educate, and encourage people to make healthy choices that will foster mental wellness and prevention drug/ alcohol misuse and/or addiction.

The Prevention Coalition of St. Johns County brings community stakeholders, agencies, volunteers, government, law enforcement, and community members together to focus on a unified approach to preventing and reducing alcohol/ substance misuse and addiction.

Advocacy: Prevention Coalition of St. Johns County participates yearly in Advocacy Day at the State Capitol.

Monthly Community Coalition meetings are held to discuss health-related topics and community collaborative initiatives.

Youth Programs:

Know The Law: A choices and consequences curriculum that promotes positive choices.

Natural High: An evidence-based curriculum that encourages activities that boost dopamine naturally.

Youth Town Hall: An opportunity for youth to have a health- based presentation and then have an open dialogue with the presenter or panel to ask questions.

Adult Programs:

Hidden In Plain Sight: An adult only presentation for caregivers to learn about local substance misuse trends, paraphernalia, and warning signs of what may be hiding in a youth’s room. Participants will be able to then walk through a mobile trailer with a mock teen’s bedroom and look for what may be hiding in plain sight.

Safe Drug Disposal: Education on how to store and dispose of prescription medication safely. Deterra is provided to all participants.
